Aircraft Payload Extender

(APE) and APE STOL

Upgrades Available for: Caravan • Grand Caravan

APE STOL

The APE STOL is a less than one-pound aerodynamic device attached to the trailing edge flaps. Installed in about two hours, the device gives operators the ability to operate at increased weights from short airfields using the same procedures utilized before the APE STOL installation. Weight increases apply to takeoff and landing.

The APE STOL works in conjunction with the previously certified APE III system and Cessna-approved 29-inch tires. If not already installed on the aircraft, the APE III system and 29-inch tires will be included with the APE STOL kit.

The APE STOL is required for all Vx Engine+ Upgrades.

APE STOL Upgrade Benefits

  • Reduced takeoff and landing field length up to 20%
  • Increased maximum takeoff weight:
    • Cessna Caravan 208: from 8,000 to 8,362 lbs.
    • Cessna Grand Caravan 208B: from 8,750 to 9,062 lbs.
  • Increased maximum landing weight:
    • Cessna Caravan 208: from 7,800 to 8,362 lbs.
    • Cessna Grand Caravan 208B: from 8,500 to 9,000 lbs.
  • Easy installation completed in less than two hours
  • STC approved
  • Manufactured under FAA PMA

APE II

The APE II allows Caravan operators to increase takeoff weights to extract maximum profitability. It has the option of increasing landing weights only on water.

The APE II modification is a small, less than three-pound aerodynamic device consisting of two 16-inch long stall fences/strakes attached to the wing leading edge just outboard of the landing light.

APE II Upgrade Benefits

  • Increased maximum takeoff weight:
    • Cessna Caravan 208: from 8,000 to 8,362 lbs.
    • Cessna Grand Caravan 208B: from 8,750 to 9,062 lbs.
  • Optional increased maximum landing weight on water for the Cessna Caravan 208 from 7,800 lbs. to 8,000 lbs.
  • Easy installation completed in less than two hours
  • STC approved
  • Manufactured under FAA PMA

APE III

The APE III increases the maximum landing weight of Caravan and Grand Caravan by replacing the existing life-limited main landing gear axle with an improved, high-cycle axle. The less than two-pound axle provides operators with increased flexibility, particularly on short haul routes favored by the Caravan.

The APE III works in conjunction with the APE II system, providing an increased maximum takeoff gross weight, and Cessna approved 29-inch tires. If not already installed on the aircraft, the APE II system and 29-inch tires will be included with the APE III kit.

APE III Upgrade Benefits

  • Increased maximum takeoff weight (provided by the APE II):
    • Cessna Caravan 208: from 8,000 to 8,362 lbs.
    • Cessna Caravan 208B from 8,750 to 9,062 lbs.
  • Increased maximum landing weight:
    • Cessna Caravan 208: from 7,800 to 8,362 lbs.
    • Cessna Caravan 208B: from 8,500 to 9,000 lbs.
  • Easy installation completed in less than two hours
  • STC approved
  • Manufactured under FAA PMA
