Ken Haxel, BB-1336 (5/17/2010)Since upgrading to our dash 52 engines, we have seen a substantial performance increase. We typically cruise in the 290 to 300 knot range in the upper twenties. Hot day performance is great without the worry of high ITT during takeoff, and climb performance is very impressive. Overall we are very pleased with our new engines. Thank you, Blackhawk. |

Helio L Santos, LJ927 (4/30/2010)We, of CORPAER CREW, are surprised with the take off, climb performance increased and a incredible 245TAS cruise speed, at FLs 240;230;220. During the climb, passing through 14.000 ft/MSL for FL240, our C90 (LJ927) keeps a VSI of 1.500 ft/min, reaching FL240 in about 15 minutes / ISA+15ºC conditions.Just push and push the power lever instead of 'pull back', before. In another flight we did, from a airport altitude of 2.500’MSL/ISA+19ºC,10.000lbs/TOW and just after a V2 speed, we cut the right engine off and he gave us a 700ft/min climb rate until 7500ft/MSL. Great job, guy!!!
We decided to fly at FLs 200;210; 220 and 230 due the 4.6 PSI (PRESS SYSTEM), having a CAB ALT comfortable (8.500 ft/MSL). King Air C90 LJ 927 (RAISEBACK/BLACKHAWK PT6A 135A) from now on, is a totally reliable machine!
Thank you all at Blackhawk! |

Joe Bowman, 31T-8104001 (4/19/2010)Just a note to let you know the trip to Lancaster, and then to El Dorado, went without a hitch. LNS to ELD was 3 hours 31 minutes at FL260. Average ground speed, 257kts. That's remarkable and about 900 lbs of fuel left. I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the hard work and professionalism that was displayed though out your organization. Good job, everybody. |
Jim Costello, 31T-8120050 (4/19/2010)I couldn’t be happier with the -135A’s. I save about 30 to 45 minutes on most of my flights and my fuel cost has stayed the same. It’s just fun to fly. |
Hoss Maddry, BB-739 (2/26/2010)Got a full route departure out of Hobby over to Baton Rouge. They usually run me out over the Gulf southeast of Galveston then work me back toward White Lake VOR or Lafayette then a decent into BTR. It was in the middle of the afternoon and I was on a 160 degree heading climbing out of 11,000 feet not more than 5 minutes from lifting off of Hobby when the approach controller asked how many souls on board. I said 6 total and asked why. He said mighty impressive climb you got going there, thought you might be dead heading. No, I said I got some Blackhawk deep breathers mounted on the wings turning those props. He promptly said anybody climbing like that ought to go direct. Cleared me straight up to 230 direct BTR and go to center frequency. |

Adam Winkler, BB-246 (2/15/2010)Our -52 conversion has been everything we expected. We are based in Pennsylvania and we've taking the airplane to Edmonton, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Bermuda. Our flying has increased 38% in 2009, mainly do to the fact that we don't have to worry about expensive engine maintenance bills. The engines have made trips from PA to Southern FL much more comfortable as we have been able to shave off a solid 1 hour of flight time. I would recommend this conversion to anyone with old and tired -41 or -42 engines. |
Jack Reynolds, LJ-1481 (12/18/2009)Thank You for the Blackhawk! In 1997, the Paul Mueller Company purchased a brand new Beechcraft C90B. We operated this aircraft daily for thirty-six hundred hours and then researched our options for a overhaul. To be honest, I am not normally an "after market" type of individual, however, when I heard that the new C90B's were coming out with the 135A engines I felt I needed to do a little research. Boy, am I glad! We now have 465 hours on our Blackhawk engines and I can truthfully say that this was the best decision I have ever made. |
 Chuck Travelstead, 31T-7720069 (12/14/2009)The plane is flying great. 265kt @28K gross weight, 270kt @28K mid weight & 275kt @28kt light weight. Great climb. |
Ray Bailey, LA-119 (11/30/2009)My Blackhawks have performed perfectly... they have been such a great addition to the F90 I am trying to sell my Mustang position. |
Jim Irwin, 425-0175 (11/16/2009)The service provided by Blackhawk was exceptional, and the engines are now installed on the Conquest. I flew it for the first time this weekend and they worked great, although it was a short trip at low altitude. I can't wait to get them to the flight levels to where the 135A's really shine! Thanks to everyone at Blackhawk for great service on my new engines. |
Adam D. Winkler, BB-246 (11/4/2009)The plane is awesome... we did Houston, TX, to Allentown, PA, in 3 hours and 30 minutes last week. I think the airlines do that trip in three hours. Very impressed! |
It’s a truly great aircraft; no others its size that can do this trip as easily, so comfortably, and with the very real assurance that, wherever we go, there is likely to be a PT-6 trained mechanic somewhere nearby if we need one (we have not) ... |
Joe Brand, LJ-845 (8/6/2009)The C90 has always been a great but underpowered airplane. The -135A engines bring out the true potential of the airframe and make it a well-balanced plane. We like the ability to climb quickly to higher altitudes in order to top weather or turbulence, without a major speed penalty. Stevens Aviation in Denver is very experienced in Blackhawk installations and handled most of the technical problems for us so that it was a virtually turn-key experience. |
The added speed and preformance really add up on our long flights and help with our operating costs. -- Scott Dean, Chief Pilot
We could not be happier with any changes to our King Air 200 than the Blackhawk conversion. -- Toby B. Shine, President. |
Mike Miklus, 31T-8020087 (7/14/2009)“It climbs at 2000 FPM at the same speed I used to cruise at. I have seen barber pole speeds on every flight since I put my new Blackhawk’s on and still have power to spare.” |
Thomas J. Abood, LJ-1165 (5/26/2009)I have enjoyed the performance capabilities these modficiation have added to the King Air C90A platform. You have provided me with the kind of excellent after-sale support that I envisioned when I selected Blackhawk as my modification provider. The Blackhawk team adds value well beyond the initial installation and lives up to its reputation as a customer oriented firm. |
Andy Gent, Bb-568 (5/12/2009)Thank you very much for the leather jacket - it really is exteeeeemly nice and way above my expectations. Whilst I have been very fortunate in the aircraft that I've flown over the years including a fair variety of WWII types/historic jets and with a background as an RAF fighter pilot throughout the mid 80s and 90s, I must say that the engine upgrade makes the Kingair a real pleasure to fly and operate. 305 -310 KTAS is easily achievable and the only red line approached is the barbers pole! |
Hoss Maddry, BB-739 (4/22/2009)Controllers gave me a compliment on my climb out of BTR. I was out of 7000 feet when I reversed course crossing back abeam the airport after only a short climb out on runway heading. Houston Center asked what kind of King Air 200 could climb like that. I have received similar questions recently from Washington Center climbing out of EWN and SLC center climbing out RKS.
I am sure you here this kind of stuff all the time. It's definitely a climbing machine. No big deal handling the sea level stuff but high altitude airports hot or cold its night and day from the 41's |
Dick Ski, LJ-1570 (3/24/2009)Performance is what Blackhawk is all about. Fast climbs, 1000-mile legs, good loads, and lower operational costs. The Blackhawk upgrade performs as advertised. The performance is so good that I don't hesitate flying coast to coast. |
Tom Abood, LJ-1165 (3/20/2009)I have had a wonderful experience with my C90-Axp. The Blackhawk modification has delivered as promised in performance. I'm so impressed that I have given the go ahead to install the Blackhawk extra range fuel lockers so that I can travel even farther in my King Air. Eliminating a fuel stop will save time and money! |
Jim Pittenger, LJ-826 (3/20/2009)Thanks for building a great airplane for me. The Blackhawk conversion is fast, strong and safe. I have more confidence in this airplane than any of its predecessors, keep the engineering coming. |
Herb Buchwald, Owner, 425-0215 (3/15/2009)I am delighted to respond to your request for comment on the Blackhawk engines we installed on our Conquest (N888JS).
In short it was the best investment we ever made - and the efforts to make the experience smooth and enjoyable by Blackhawk were astonishing.
Your performance representations were right on the mark. When we need assistance in tweaking the engines, you sent someone to Denver, at your expense, to review the situation and not only adjusted engines, but taught us how to maximize their performance with proper attention to power settings, climb speeds, loading, etc.
It has been several years since the installation and we could not be happier.
Best regards,
Herb Buchwald

Paul Sturgeon, Owner, LJ-745 (3/10/2009)"Performance is spectacular with 3800fpm rates of climb and TAS of 276kts. Not bad for a 1978 C90!" |
"I am consistently seeing a 40 knot gain..." |
"It does what it says on the tin and a bit more!" |
Bernard Lavene, President, Electronic Concepts Inc. (2/24/2009)"The airplane is outperforming the specifications you are claiming. I am getting approximately 5 more knots than advertised and the climb performance is outstanding." |
"Who wouldn't want brand new, higher performing engines?" |
Kyle McMahan, Owner, LJ-814 (2/17/2009)My partners and I feel like we have a “King Air and a half” after our Blackhawk conversion. We are no longer temperature limited at altitude and maintain full power up into the flight levels. The increase in speed and utility come at a small marginal increase in fuel burn over our original engines. We are definitely Blackhawk groupies at this point. “Rather than buy another airplane, we made our airplane a new one.” |
"The engines made an old tired Cheyenne an incredible machine." |
John S. Rudolph, Chief Pilot, BB-1071 (2/6/2009)“Our Blackhawk PT6A-61s have been a fantastic investment! The plane jumps off the runway, climbs straight up & settles in ~300 knots in normal cruise. We save time on each flight with power to spare. The -61s are a perfect fit for the King Air B200." |
Butch Smith, Jr., Pilot, LJ-1023 (12/4/2008)“I am absolutely thrilled with my new Blackhawk engine gauges. They look beautiful and are really helpful in ensuring exact power settings in all flight regimens." |
Mark Byrne, IAK King, BB-1202 (9/27/2008)“The performance improvement in climb and cruise is dramatic. We conduct the whole enroute cruise phase of our flights 10 knots below the barber pole, TAS 310. We are very pleased with the -61’s!” |
"I only have good things to say about the upgrade!" |
Albert Ruoso, BL-11 (9/2/2008)"The new Blackhawk engines increase the performance of our aircraft and allow us to reduce the flight time...for the same commercial price. It is very good for the company cash flow." |
Dave Brown, Garmin International, BB-1508 (8/15/2008)“We were climbing at 900 feet per minute at FL 350 the other day testing out our new RVSM system. The -52’s easily climb to the service ceiling with plenty of power to spare.” |
Brad Huddle, Ganassi Racing, BB-651 (8/12/2008)“I have accumulated thousands of hours in various King Air models and this airplane with the -61’s performs just like a King Air 300.” |
Kyle McMahan, LJ-814 (7/24/2008)"Blackhawk takes you where you want to go!!!!" |
Bert Bollar, Teton Aviation, BB-1331 (5/19/2008)“I’m convinced the -61 engine is the ideal motor for the King Air 200. In upper flight levels, we are consistently 8 to 10 knots below the barber-pole at recommended cruise settings." |
"I get full torque at least to FL180 to FL190 and sometimes up to FL220 depending on the temperature. It just soars off the runway." |
Bob Schroeder, LJ-645 (4/26/2007)"I would do the Blackhawk conversion again in a heartbeat!" |
Dan Greenwald, LJ-944 (9/7/2006)"I am thrilled with the performance and have had great support from the company. If anyone has questions they can contact me by e-mail at docdan@bs-ps.com" |
